Our history

Punta Colorada began with a personal conviction, not a real-estate plan. In the early 2000s, after more than twenty years as a salaried professional, Fernando Chaparro Padilla set out to pursue a long-held ambition: the son of an agronomist and raised in the countryside, he wanted to build his own fruit-growing venture. On work trips through La Higuera he came to know this land and, on leaving his job, bought it to join the fruit boom then sweeping northern Chile: olives, pomegranates, prickly pear.

The plantings never prospered, but the land revealed an unexpected value in the very thing that made them hard: the wind. That observation —made on foot, working the ground— led him to explore the then-emerging wind-power industry, until he secured the lease for the first wind farm, today in operation on the property. That was the starting point for everything that followed: transmission easements from various holders, a reservation for a solar project, and battery storage.

Today Estancia El Chañar, in La Higuera, Coquimbo Region, remains in the same family's hands, managing its contracts, leases and easements with the long-term outlook it started with. What began as farmland became strategic ground for Chile's energy and infrastructure.

Our model

We do not develop projects: we are the land partner. We lease, reserve and manage contracts and easements for decades. Our role is to give developers certainty over the land for the entire life of their project: clean title, a stable counterparty and prior contractual experience.
